We operate across the whole of the Wirral and are now helping hundreds of businesses there to save money and recycle more, thanks to our pledge to re-use and recycle as much waste as possible and work towards reducing reliance on landfill. The Wirral Peninsular’s a fantastic place to work, incredibly diverse across the relatively small surface area of just 60.35 square miles. It has no less than 1,900 listed buildings, 215 churches, 50 towns and villages, 10 lighthouses and one castle. The businesses we work with there are just as diverse, from shopping centres, to restaurants, florists, Cammell Laird shipyard, schools, and garages. From the shipyards at Birkenhead, to the newly buzzing New Brighton to Greasby, Bromborough, West Kirby, and Heswall, our trucks are out across the whole of the peninsular seven days a week, and our green and yellow bins are an increasingly common sight.
As part of the service we provide at Gaskells, we stay in close contact with all our customers to monitor service levels, and because, well, we just like that old school personal touch.. even in this technological age when so much business is done over the internet, we still believe nothing beats that person to person contact. We’re proud of all the businesses we work with, big and small, and like to give them regular shoutouts.
This month, with a focus on the Wirral here are a few of our customers we think you should definitely visit if you’re in the area.
First up, Molly’s Ice Cream Parlour, situated in Moreton Hills Golf Centre… if you’re an ice cream lover, this place is heaven. A family business, Emma and the rest of her family have worked in the ice cream industry for years, with a number of ice cream vans, but Emma told us she’d had enough of being on the road, so set up this wonderful ice cream parlour….named after her daughter.
The range of ice cream is amazing, all from a farm down in Bath, which is fully sustainable, it’ gives you access to the golf driving range, and also Viking Quest Adventure Golf, which we’ll come onto later. It’s open in the evenings, there are lots of children’s activities there and get this, it’s on Just Eat, so you can get deliveries right to your door if you’re in the area!
Also.. did we mention.. their ice creams are amazing?
While we’re in Moreton and at Molly’s we have to tell you about the fantastic Viking Quest Adventure Golf right next door. One of the Wirral’s newest family attractions, this place is fantastic. An 18 hole adventure golf course and learning experience which provides a great day out for all ages.
Boats across moats? Check. Playing the ball through a wolf’s mouth? Check. A bear cave? Check. A Viking long ship? Check. All this and more, this place is perfect for family time, an evening out with friends, date nights, birthday parties, corporate events and team building. We’re incredibly proud to work with the team there, whose attention to detail is second to none. Of course, if you’re into real golfing, there’s Moreton Hills Golf Centre right next door. Whether you’re new to golf or want to polish up your existing skills, why not take advantage of their fully astro-turfed, 50 bay driving range. Fully floodlit, with both undercover and outdoor areas, you can practise after dark and in all weathers.
From Moreton, you can head over to New Brighton, which at the minute is undergoing a huge revamp with new life being breathed into the Victoria Quarter thanks to a lot of investment and also street artists from across the UK being brought in to breathe new life into the buildings. One of these buildings is the fantastic bar and restaurant Habibi. Dubbed “Eastern eats and Western beats” it’s a confluence of cultures with food from the Middle East, the Ottoman and North Africa; with deconstructed kebabs grilled over fragrant cherry wood, and Meze platters which are made to be shared.
Traditional cocktails, canned beers, premium draught lines, as well as specially selected wines and fizz. No booking either, you just walk-in. Also, when you go, check out the street art on the back!
And a trip to New Brighton wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the New Palace and Adventureland. The traditional family amusement arcade, The Bright Spot, has something for everyone including state of the art video driving, adventure and shooting simulators, dance games, plus the always popular slots and ‘pushers’, as well as mini-bowling and toy-grabbers. Take plenty of 2ps!
It really does offer a tremendous range of family fun-filled entertainment and activities. Plus, it has a fabulous outdoor funfair, which really is a children’s paradise. Well worth a trip, we’re incredibly proud to be working with the team there for all their waste management services. This place also has a fascinating history, click here to read more about how it was on the map as a bustling amusement centre way before Blackpool!
Our spotlight on the Wirral couldn’t end without introducing you to Gemma, our Business Development Manager for the area. She was born in Liverpool but now lives on the Wirral, and is married with four children. Gemma also looks after Chester, Ellesmere Port, Deeside and Mold. If you’d like Gemma to come and give your business a free waste audit, to see how Gaskells can help you, get in touch.
