How do we process your non-recyclable waste?

After collection, your waste is taken to our recycling facility where, with the assistance of automated sorting technology, we separate general waste from recyclable waste. The residual waste which we cannot recycle is then baled, wrapped and sent to Energy from Waste facilities for use as fuel (RDF).

Some forms of business and commercial waste contain locked in energy that when burnt forms steam that powers a turbine. This turbine produces electricity that is used to generate heat for local homes and businesses. The emissions released during the process are carefully controlled to ensure the air is free of emissions that are harmful to the environment before releasing it into the atmosphere. This process makes environmentally friendly use of your commercial waste by reducing the amount disposed of in landfill.
