We’re delighted to start off 2019 by sharing the news we’ve been awarded Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) Silver, which is industry standard for best practice across the European transport industry.

This follows on from the success of us securing FORS bronze last year and is the result of a lot of hard work from our Transport team and drivers.

FORS is a voluntary scheme which recognises a company’s safety, efficiency and environmental protection. To meet standard, our line managers and drivers are undergoing approved progressive training and professional development, with particular focus on the safety of vulnerable road users. This goes hand in hand with our work with Bikeright UK, where our drivers swapped their trucks for pedal cycles, to get a cyclist’s eye view. Our vehicles are all equipped with camera systems all round and audible warning systems. Our drivers and managers have undertaken an intensive e-learning course, looking at all aspects of operational safety and new additions to FORS standard which include tackling Terrorism and Noise Pollution.

Gaskells are  proud to be associated with FORS, and to have now achieved FORS Silver, which demonstrates our commitment to managing our work-related road risk, and exceeding the industry standard. We operate a large fleet across a growing area, and this reassures our customers, potential customers and suppliers of our commitment to safety and the environment. Achieving FORS Silver is the culmination of a lot of hard work from the whole Transport team, including our drivers, so I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone. Safety is an absolute priority here at Gaskells, and we will now be working towards FORS Gold.
